US rocker Huey Lewis – best known for the Back To The Future anthem The Power Of Love – has been forced to cancel all of his bands future tour dates after losing much of his hearing.
The singer – frontman of 80s favourites Huey Lewis And The News – had been due to play six shows over the summer, but he has now taken to Twitter to explain that the hearing loss will make it impossible for me to perform.
Two and a half months ago, just before a show in Dallas, I lost most of my hearing, he explained.
Although I can still hear a little, one on one, and on the phone, I cant hear music well enough to sing. The lower frequencies distort violently making it impossible to find pitch.

The 67-year-old went on to explain that doctors believe he may have Menieres Disease – which can cause hearing loss, vertigo and tinnitus – and that he had visited several clinics to try and find out what was wrong.
The only prudent thing to do is to cancel all future shows, Huey went on.
Needless to say I feel horrible about this, and wish to sincerely apologise to all the fans whove already bought tickets and were planning to come and see us.
He added: Im going to concentrate on getting better and hope that one day soon Ill be able to perform again.
Huey Lewis and The News remain best known for their worldwide hit The Power Of Love, from the Back To The Future soundtrack – which reached number 11 in the UK charts in 1985 – later peaking at number nine after it re-entered the charts in 1986.
They scored three number ones in the US in the 1980s as well as selling 30m albums worldwide and topping the US album charts with their long-players Sports and Fore!
