Melbourne finals focus as City host Roar, Victory play Adelaide

They will face Adelaide United, who will have their tails up after ending Western Sydney Wanderers play off hopes.

It will be a tough week for Kevin Muscat's side as the navy blues will also be on duty on Wednesday evening in the Asian Champions League against high quality Chinese team Shanghai SIPG.

Victory cannot make the knock out stages and Shanghai have already topped the group, so it would be surprising if Muscat risked too many of his big name players just days before such a crucial finals clash in Wednesday's fixture.

Most of the attention will be focussed on City during the week. City has never made it to a Grand Final, and if they beat Brisbane on Friday night will have to travel to Newcastle the following weekend to take on the Jets in the semi final.

Bruno Fornaroli got his fifth goal in six games since returning from injury in the 2-1 loss to Wellington Phoenix on Saturday evening, and he says it is important that his team-mates put that defeat quickly behind them.

''We are really disappointed with the last game of the league, alright its not a good result but we have to forget this quickly and try to think about the finals now.
'

'Now is a great moment to start to think about the finals. We [finished] in third position so its great for the team and now we try to do our best

''I hope this Friday night to see a lot of fans there who support us and of course we will do the best for the team and for our fans,'' said the Uruguayan.

''Its another goal for me, I continue to take confidence and its great after the injury to come back like this. I try to do my best it's what I do every time and I hope to go into the Finals 100 per cent.''
