The best of the South Wests sport fishing is now on show thanks to the annual salmon migration, and the team at Down South Camping & Outdoors has the latest tips for anglers of all persuasions…
Well folks with the salmon run in full swing along our coast and the weather conditions being favourable lately for shore fishing we have seen epic sessions on these hard fighting sports fish.
The coastline has been lined with keen anglers from all over Australia (we had one customer who had flown in from the East Coast especially for the annual salmon migration) joining in the fun.
Luckily the schools have been large, close to shore and quite easy to spot, thus many keen anglers have caught salmon this year.
Boating has been a little slower due to weather conditions – however there have been good size Dhuies, Bluefin Tuna, Pinkies and Nannygai caught on recent trips out.

With the school holidays approaching this would be a great time for the Mums and Dads to take the kids fishing.
There have also been many reports of skippy and herring along the coast.
These species are perfect for anglers of all skill levels, and we encourage fishers to come and see us for advice about how to tie rigs, how to attach the hooks or which lures to use if you need any tips or help in catching your first fish.
There have been a couple of pics floating around of good size pink snapper being caught off the beaches, this is a great sign of a healthy ecosystem.

The divers are reporting that crays are still there – however numbers are getting less and less.
