Boards, bands & more at Foamlust Festival 2018

The Foamlust Surf Festival will kick off once again this weekend for an epic, four day celebration of surfing, the South West surf scene as well as local shapers and photographers.

Event co-organiser John Dutton said this years festival was bigger and better than ever, starting with the opening party at The Common in Gnarabup.

“On Friday weve got the Quobba Fins launch party at The Common, with live music from Beeva Feeva,” he said.

A two day surf swapmeet will be held in Cowaramups industrial estate, which Dutton said was a huge hit last year.

“Were really excited about the swap meet, last year we had someone rock up with the most amazing old surf posters from the 70s and there are some incredible boards and equipment you can pick up for a good price too.”

Surfers and locals carrying excess boards, wetsuits, memorabilia and associated equipment will descend on the swapmeet to buy, sell and trade their gear.

“It was very popular last year and we expect it will be even more so this year, being over the two days. Well have a huge display of surfboards from all eras, memorabilia and surf cars, live posca art displays and live music from Squidlive.”

On Monday, the festival will end with a closing party back at The Common.

“Scott Bauer will be putting on an old school surfing slideshow, with a heap of old photos and some new ones as well, going right back into the old days of surfing in the region,” said Dutton. “The Common is a great venue, its right there on the coast and in the thick of the action with the Pro just down the road.

“Were stoked to be back there this year and with the two days out at Cowaramup as well, were hoping to see lots of people coming out to see what weve got lined up.”

The Foamlust Festival starts Friday April 13 at The Common from 7pm.

The Foamlust Swapmeet is at Lot 35 Jersey Street Cowaramup (LIA) from 10am until late on both Saturday April 14 and Sunday April 15.

The Common will host the closing party on Monday April 16 from 6pm. For all information visit www.foamlust.com/
