Repeating season 2017s first game drought breaking win, the Year 9-12 girls Margaret River Hockey Team did it again on Friday night winning their first game of the 2018 season.

Things got off to an early start after some very good passage of play put the ball into the attacking D.

Ashlee Jarvis was able to capitalise for the team scoring an early goal and buoying team confidence to celebrate and push on with the job.

A bit of a loss in structure in the closing minutes of the first half gave Cavaliers an opportunity to push down towards our goal, but they were unable to convert.

Some encouraging and tactical words about structure and basics from Coach Erin Hutton saw the second half come together well and more scoring opportunities open up.

Kiri Mann seized on one of these and scored the 2nd goal for the team.

The Margaret River girls 9-12 team is welcoming a few new players this year.

Running with just 11 last Friday, the field was full, but there were no subs this week making the win all the more impressive.

Next Friday well welcome two new players on board and this will boost our strength.

Final siren score was Margaret River 2, Cavaliers 0.
