London: 2,156 cases of scabies were reported and cured in Makkah up until Friday, according to the the Saudi Ministry of Health.
1,774 of those cases were among school children.
Meanwhile in Jazan, 15 cases of scabies had been monitored, dealt with and brought under control.
The ministry assured everyone that measures had been taken to cure the cases. The ministry promised awareness of the disease would be raised and preventative measures taken among all those affected by scabies and anyone who came into contact with them.
All patients with scabies were given the necessary medication and there are currently no in-patients with scabies in Jazans hospitals.
Two cases of scabies were also reported in Taif — the first patient was a man in his forties and the second was a ten-year-old school girl.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Taif said that there is no cause for concern and that precautions were taken at an early stage in coordination with health services responsible for schools.
The ministry added that the number of cases of scabies has started to decline and that all patients had been cured during the last few days.
