Sydney Swans hopeful of welcoming Sam Reid and Gary Rohan

Rohan stayed at home to be close to his wife Amie, who is close to giving birth to twins. But due to issues with the pregnancy, the forward is understandably staying close to his partner.

“We'll look at those boys next week and see which of them are best, if not all of them,” Longmore said.

“We thought (Reid) was a bit of a chance for this week. We had a couple of players play with a bit of a tight hamstring like he had a couple of years ago – and got through.

“We weighed it all up and gave him as long as we could, but the whole thing in Perth might have counted against him.

“He ran during the week and was good. We didn't want to take the risk, so hopefully he is ok this week and Gary we'll take week-by-week.”

Longmire said that Hannebery had pulled up well from his hit out on Friday.

The inclusions of Reid and Rohan will free up Isaac Heeney who led the Swans to their 26-point half-time lead against the Eagles.

Heeney took a back-seat to Franklin in attack, but kicked an important goal at the start of the second quarter to give the Swans the lead. It sent the Swans on a run of five consecutive goals that allowed them to set up a 30-point lead.

Heeney walked in at half-time with a game-high 18 possessions and a couple of score assists. He was also the one who took the Reid role of heading back to defence late in quarters to make scoring more difficult for the opposition.

He faded in the final term, collecting just two possessions, but he still finished with 26.

Longmire was impressed with his output, considering he had knee surgery in December and didn’t rejoin training until the new year.

“Isaac had an operation before Christmas that set his pre-season back a bit,” the Swans coach said.

“When we lost Reid and Rohan out of our front half this week, we put him up front. He just competed really well; threw himself at the ball in all opportunities.

“When he was on ball he was just as good.”
