Beard for sale

Have you ever thought that a beard could save lives?

Jimmy Niggles thinks he can do just that as he aims to raise $1 million to start a national free skin check program.

How did it all start you wonder?

Nearly eight years ago to the day, Mr Niggles lost a friend to melanoma.

His friend was only 26-year-old and his death left a huge mark on Mr Niggles and his friends.

At the wake, the group of mates decided to create Beard Season, where every winter they would grow a beard, get their skin check and encourage others to do the same.

However, Mr Niggles took it one step further and when the first beard season came along he never shaved it off again.

Years later and Mr Niggles has decided it is time to get rid of his ‘bush ranger’ beard.

“But I thought, I can’t just shave it off,” he said.

Over the last year Mr Niggles has been trying to make his beard as famous as possible, including finishing fifth in the World Beard and Moustache Championships in Austin Texas.

He has also done various modelling campaigns and met up with Sir Richard Branson in the Cayman Islands.

Mr Niggles is now in Margaret River for the annual Emergence Creative Festival where he will be speaking about his story and mission to sell his ‘million dollar beard’.
