Kanye West ‘to face legal battle over the Yeezy name’
This could be a tricky one for ‘Ye.
New reports have claimed that Kanye West is potentially facing a legal battle over one of the trademarked names of his fashion brand, Yeezy.
While Kanye has had the legal rights for Yeezy-branded footwear since 2013, the rapper and his team abandoned their plans to trademark the name for the company’s clothing products last year.
According to new documents obtained by TMZ, a Chinese clothing company – Fujian Baby Network Technology Co. – has since managed to trademark the name ‘Yeezy Boost’ for its clothing products.
That trademark came to light when Kanye’s Yeezy brand attempted to refile the relevant legal paperwork for their clothing.
However, the application was turned down after it became apparent that Fujian Baby Network Techology Co. had managed to nip in and reportedly take the ‘Yeezy Boost’ trademark.
