Camila Cabello’s career has soared since she left Fifth Harmony.

And now the band has announced their decision to split to follow in her trendsetting footsteps.

The singer quit the band 15 months ago, and the split was somewhat acrimonious, with the band claiming she’d left without telling them while she hit back saying they announced her decision to quit without tell her.

At the time the band said: ‘After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony. We wish her well.’

Camila responded by saying: ‘I was shocked to read the statement the Fifth Harmony account posted without my knowing. The girls were aware of my feelings through the long, much needed conversations about the future that we had during tour.’

And at the VMAs Fifth Harmony shaded her by pushing her likeness off stage. But she’s had the last laugh.

Leaving was the best decision she could have made, as while her career has been thriving the band has hit the rocks with the remaining members now opting to go solo. She’s paved the way with her own success.

While her debut single Bad Things didn’t set the world alight, her track Havana certainly did, achieving five weeks at number one.

With it she won breakthrough artist at the Billboard music awards, won best female at the global awards, while scoring four other nominations, and she nabbed the fangirls award at the iHeartRadio awards.

She also bagged the best pop award at the MTV EMAs and got herself a nomination for best urban song from the Latin Grammys.

To name a few.

Her most recent success has seen her announced as the support act for Taylor Swift’s upcoming tour.

‘I’ve been wanting to tell you this for a really long time, but the opening acts on the Reputation Stadium tour will be Charli XCX and Camila Cabello,’ Taylor Swift said of the announcement.

‘So, I’m really excited, I hope you are too. I can’t wait to see you, I can’t wait to see them. I’m really excited just about the whole thing in general.’

Camila has also been dubbed ‘pop’s newest superstar’ with fellow musicians clambering over themselves to collaborate.

She’s also all about female empowerment, having been brought up by some empowering women herself.

‘My inspirations are my mum and my grandma,’ she told the hosts of the red carpet at the iHeartRadio awards. ‘I have really amazing women around me who show me the kind of woman I want to be.’

Speaking of how they then helped inspire her to push herself to go solo, she said: ‘I feel like it has a lot to do with pushing yourself to do the things that you’re afraid of.’

She added: ‘Everything worthwhile is on the other side of fear. Push yourself to take that first step even if your knees are shaky.’
