The Sun’s ‘Brexit bargains’ retweeted by Jacob Rees-Mogg has been deleted because it’s nonsense

Remember the Sun’s ‘Brexit bargains’ feature so excitedly retweeted by Jacob Rees-Mogg?

And here is the ‘article’.

We suggested at the time it’s complete bollocks. Or, rather, someone who knows a lot more about this sort of thing than us did.

13 Overall bottom line: EU tariffs have some impact on consumer prices, but vastly less than the S*n suggests. (They ignore products where the tariff is zero or low).

And now, guess what?

The Sun has now deleted this work of fiction from its website. The lie has been seen in print by millions. The new URL says it all (h/t @SAshworthHayes) pic.twitter.com/iFG10arMOn

What it used to say.

And what it now says.

Can’t say people didn’t try to warn him.

The clue as to why it’s been taken down might be in the URL, which contains the words ‘legal removal’.

Let’s hope it’s back up again in a few days time with the proper impact of our imminent EU withdrawal.

Rees-Mogg has already done one U-turn today, withdrawing an accusation about the Northern Ireland peace process he made against Jeremy Corbyn. Maybe it’s time for another.

The Sun has accepted that *every single calculation* here is wrong, & has deleted the article. Will @Jacob_Rees_Mogg & @Econs4FreeTrade correct & apologise for spreading this obvious nonsense? https://t.co/BTqMYeYHvI

another mea culpa for @Jacob_Rees_Mogg … they are stacking up thick and fast. Next he’ll be apologising for persistently misleading the British public over Brexit. https://t.co/BaYeYvqlfF
