20th Century Fox is reportedly going ahead with a Silver Surfer solo film.

The project is one of several that the film studio has been working on, despite the merge with Disney, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Silver Surfer is a known character of the Marvel Universe whose story of an alien man who gives up his normal life to save his planet by becoming a cosmic power.

The character has been featured in various games, comics and cartoon and even had his own animated series in 1998.

According to an executive, the studio is going ‘100 miles per hour’.

Channing Tatum’s Gambit movie is apparently still in production, and New Mutants’ April release had to be pushed back due to extensive re-shoots.

The studio have managed to get comic book writer Brian K. Vaughn on board as a writer, which will likely go down well with his fans and for those who aren’t as accustomed to comic books; they will be more aware of his Hulu series Marvel’s Runaways.

Currently there are no other details on the Silver Surfer movies but rumours of one being in the works have run rampant since the superhero first burst onto the silver screen *no pun intended* in 2007.

Even with their pending Disney merger, Fox have been pretty busy. Deadpool 2 is set to release in May, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters in November.

On the other hand, it was also reported that Deadpool’s Tim Miller is working on a Kitty Pryde solo film. A Multiple Man movie might also be in the works, with James Franco and Dark Phoenix’s Simon Kinberg collaborating, and Legion creator Noah Hawley is reportedly developing a Doctor Doom spin-off.

Deadpool 2 is due out in UK cinemas on Wednesday 16 May.
