A community-supported cricket event on a property north of Cowaramup over the weekend attracted close to 100 people in support of the McGrath Foundation’s Pink Stumps Day.

Hosted by local man Tim Terpstra and his family at their Boallia property, the charity match was an event important to many in the community.

“The McGrath Foundation is very close to our hearts as we have recently lost 2 members of our church community, a mother and daughter, to the terrible disease of cancer,” Mr Terpstra said.

Between 80 and 100 people attended throughout the day which raised almost $2000 for the cause.

“It was fantastic to see so much local support from businesses. A big thank you to Ian from the Beer Farm for donating our post-game beverages, to Lynden Gamage for donating a bouncy castle for the day which kept all the kids entertained, the Cowaramup Brewing Co for donating gift vouchers, to Neil and Gloria from Vasse General Store for donating gas for the BBQ, Coates hire for donating a roller to get the pitch right, Heidi from Icequeen Icecream for coming out and donating 50c from every cone sold.

“On top of this a big thank you to Michael Klinger from the Perth Scorchers for supporting the day. While not able to make it, he donated a BBL07 shirt which was signed by the whole Scorchers BBL07 team.”
