Former EastEnders star Harry Reid has revealed his first new role after leaving Ben Mitchell behind. The actor left the Walford soap at the beginning of the year when his alter-ego started a new life in Calais after trying to steal the heist money.

Fans were hoping for an eventual return for Ben but for now, Harry is quite busy enough as he is taking over the role of Leonard Vole in a stage adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Witness For The Prosecution.

Harry will play the role between the end of March and the middle of November at the Old County Hall in South Bank so will be kept pretty much occupied for the entirety of the year. He described himself as being ‘thrilled’ at his new casting.

He shared the news on Instagram and Twitter, with his fans congratulating him on his new venture. However, when he left the role as Ben, he certainly didn’t rule out a future return and enthused that it had been a joy to play the deeply complex character.

During Harry’s tenure, Ben’s storylines included the tragic death of the man he loved, Paul Coker and the return of his supposedly dead mum Kathy Beale. He also butted heads with villains Gavin Sullivan, James Willmott-Brown and Luke Browning and was rescued by Grant Mitchell after being kidnapped by Paul’s killers.
