Winx v Enable would make the Juddmonte International a summer highlight

Australian champion Winx is seen "as the world's most famous and popular horse" by English racing officials and they are salivating at the possibility of a clash of the hemispheres with Europe champion Enable in the Juddmonte International at York in August.

Winx is seen as the biggest drawcard in racing by Royal Ascot's Nick Smith, York chief executive William Derby and Goodwood managing director Adam Waterworth.

Each would love to have her at their meetings in the English summer and have once again been presenting their case to Winx's owners and trainer Chris Waller on a visit to Sydney this week.

They admit Winx is almost unbeaten at a mile but it's a clash with Arc De Triomphe winner Enable and rising star Cracksman at York that would provide the biggest race in England for many years.

Derby said it would rival Frankel's Juddmonte win for interest at York and put racing at the centre of the English summer. Frankel doubled the York crowd in 2012 and Winx is seen at that level by the York chief executive.

"It would be a great clash because Enable had such a great season last year culminating in the Arc win, which was a really dominating win and an amazing display," Derby said.

"To see them take each other on is what every race fan would like to see. I think it is one of those classics.

"Winx would definitely win over a mile. Enable, I think, would definitely win over a mile-and-a-half. At 10 furlongs, Winx and Enable would be good to see."

The English have taken a co-ordinated approach to getting Winx to England and are waiting for Waller to decide after next month's George Ryder Stakes about the trip.

"She would go to Ascot [for the Queen Anne Stakes] and then expand that program to a mile in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood or the fillies and mares Nassau Stakes," Smith said.

"The big race would be, probably our best 10 furlong race in Europe, the Juddmonte International, which would be a showdown with the great Enable. That would be something really exciting."

Waterworth gave an insight into Winx's profile in Europe after 22 straight wins, including three Cox Plates.

"We follow her every move. We know when she running, we stay up in the middle of the night watching it," he said.

"If you like this game you want to see superstars, where ever they are. We are in this game because we love horses and she is the best out there.

"She would be the world's most famous and popular horse."

Smith said Winx has been a project for a couple of years but he is also confident of getting Lightning Stakes winner Redkirk Warrior and Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Merchant Navy to the Royal meeting for the King's Stand and Diamond Jubilee in June.

He noted the emergence of The Everest and how it is viewed in Europe.

"There were a number of horses that won sprints in Europe where the Everest was mentioned in post-race interviews, which I thought was a really good sign," he said.

"It is a great concept for massive prizemoney that has people talking."
