Neighbours special spoilers: Travis Burns reveals dramatic Tyler and Piper rooftop scenes left him in tears
Piper and Tyler’s relationship is about to be tested to the max as they go on the run in the Neighbours late night episode.
As Tyler faces jail, the only thing the two can to do stay together is become fugitives, which culminates in a dramatic rooftop scene where Piper is left clinging on for dear life.
Actor Travis Burns has revealed that the emotions in the 90 minute episode, spanning one half an hour and one hour long episode airing 12 February, are completely real as he was left him an emotional wreck when he first read the script.
‘When I read the 90 minute special episode, I was in tears at the end of it,’ he exclusively revealed to Metro.co.uk. ‘Wanting to keep reading the next episode to see how everything turns out. Every time I think about it I get goosebumps. There’s so much that happens for my character, huge arc and then of course an incredible stunt at the end.’
The stunt itself is set to be massive, filmed on location and ending with Piper hanging on by her fingertips in a tense and thrilling moment as they try and evade the police.
‘It was incredible,’ Travis said. ‘The best storyline and scenes I have ever shot on Neighbours. It was a complex scene to shoot and we wanted it to look as authentic as possible. I take my hat off to all the crew that worked a 16 hour day and we captured some really amazing footage.
‘Scott Major the director had been planning this episode for months and he right there by our sides every second of the day to get the most out of us. Obviously working with my co-star Mavournee [Piper] made the whole experience that much better too.’
Travis’ character has been put through the wringer of late, all starting with him being accused of Hamish’s murder at the end of last year. He’s now facing up to 20 years in prison for the crime he didn’t do and being separated from his one true love.
‘It’s been a rollercoaster from really dark moments when Tyler discovers some heartbreaking truths, then his love for Piper and loyalty to his brothers,’ Travis divulged. ‘It has been an exciting and challenging story arc, one I’ll never forget. And of course, when you’re working with the likes of Scott McGregor (Mark Brennan), Matt Wilson (Aaron Brennan) and Mavournee Hazel (Piper Willis), there are always going to be laughs.’
Laughs and tears though, as things aren’t looking great for the two lovebirds
‘It has been such a long journey for these two characters, he said. ‘I think they have both grown up in front of the audience – from two immature kids, they’ve broken up, got back together, had to deal with disapproval and through it all, they are still together and even deeper in love.’
Will it stay that way? Find out tonight on Channel 5 at 10pm.
