Yeah, we’re shook, too (Picture: Universal Pictures)

15 years after its release, there seems to be small details (read: big, BIG details) still trickling through about our beloved Christmas movie Love Actually.

But there is one insane fact that’s resurfaced all these years later that has fans in a tizz.

And it’s to do with two of the main cast members – Keira Knightley, who played Juliet, and Thomas Brodie-Sangster of Game of Thrones fame, who played Sam, the step son of Daniel (Liam Neeson).

You see, Sam is much, much older than he looks, and Juliet much younger.

In fact, and here’s where we shatter your Love Actually love bubble, there’s only five years between these two actors’ ages.

In the 2003 movie, Juliet is a totally mature, grown up bride who is part of one of the most famous scenes in film history – you know, the ‘to me, you are perfect’ sign moment.

Never forget

Then there’s Sam, who is a kid who looks all of 10 years old (he’s not, but still) who’s fawning over the girl in his class who’s about to fly back to America, so he learns the drums so he can perform in the school’s Christmas show and win his crush’s heart.

Standard.

You’d think, nay expect, there to be quite the age range between these two actors, seeing as they’re playing characters in two *very* different stages of life – one is navigating his first crush and early years of high school, while the other is settled down, married, somehow living in a bangin’ terrace on a cobbled street, and juggling a love triangle with two other totally mature men.

However the proof is in the DOBS: Keira was born 26 March 1985, which makes her 32, and Thomas was born 16 May 1990, bringing him to 27.

It all came to our startled attention when a shocked Twitter user voiced their shock as this frankly shocking information, which has since been retweeted over 30,000 times.

Gotta say, they really had Keira NOT looking 18 years old, and Thomas really NOT looking 13.

The fans were shook. We repeat, the fans, were shook.

kinda fucked how keira nightly and thomas brodie were in their teens when doing love actually but she was playing a grown ass woman and he was playing an eight year old

Still shook by the fact that Keira Knightly was only 18 when she was in love actually and only 5 years older than guy who played the little loved-up boy wtf

More so than the ludicrous age gap, many were freaked out that Keira was only 18, with one saying: ‘I’m more shocked that Keira Knightley was 18 in Love Actually !! I thought she was in her twenties.’

We all did, sweet tweeter, we all did.

Some fans with their finger on the pulse picked up on the insane, and bordering on inappropriate, age gap some time ago, but it wasn’t until old mate ’30k retweets’ cottoned onto it that it really took off.

If there’s anything we can learn from his, it’s to hold your children tight tonight – for tomorrow they may be 18 and marrying Chiwetel Ejiofor.
