The community will be able to relish in the creative arts as a production of BiDiNG TiME tours through Nyngan in April.
Mudgee-Based producer Sam Paine has received funding from Create NSW to take his production of BiDiNG TiME through rural towns including Nyngan, Coolah, Gilgandra, Wellington and Dubbo.
Michelle Shore, chair of Nyngan Arts said, “Nyngan Arts looks forward to hosting BiDiNG TiME and seeing this show entertain the Bogan Shire community, benefit our burgeoning community of performers, and create connections for our isolated community.”
Create NSW CEO Michael Brealey said that the initiative with Arts on Tour is important in helping to increase arts participation across NSW.
“Working with Arts on Tour allows us to increase access to affordable theatre and high quality professional performance, and give communities across NSW, in particular families, the opportunity to engage with live theatre across local venues.
“BiDiNG TiME has a great artistic legacy and we’re delighted to be able to bring Sam’s production to a wider audience across the Orana region,” he said.
Artist Sam Pain commented that funding has been important at extending productions to areas that a metropolitan tour would not reach in order “to continue to build both the audiences and the small creative culture that creates art out of the life of this place”.
BiDiNG TiME is a global theatre concept first created in 2007 by influential Australian festival professional Pippa Bailey, responding to economic and environmental crisis by imagining how creative processes can enable systematic social change.
Shared through an intentionally unfinished text, the project seeks to create sustainable fairtrade theatre by encouraging local artists to adapt the production and suit their own context.
