Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s first big blockbuster saw him take on the role of Mark Miller’s Kick-Ass, playing Dave Lizewski.

The film, directed by Matthew Vaughn, was an instant cult classic, and went on to set a standard for how to do a comic book crossovers.

Following the hugely popular sequel it seems that a third Kick-Ass movie could be in the works very soon, especially if it has anything to do with Tessa Thompson.

The 34-year-old actress basically just cast herself in the role last night, when she tweeted Miller saying: ‘Kicking ass is something I’m highly interested in.’

Tessa’ tweet was a response to one of Miller’s own last month, in which he said the Thor: Ragnarok star was his number one choice to play a female Kick-Ass.

The Scottish comic book writer, who penned the likes of Old Man Logan and Marvel Civil War, announced last year that he was retiring the Kick-Ass brought to life by Aaron, replacing him with a black, female military veteran.

Following the news, Miller addressed one burning question from the Kick-Ass fandom last month, tweeting: ‘A lot of fans asking who I’d want as this new Kick-Ass. To be honest, one choice really jumps out and that’s @TessaThompson_x.’

Cue Tessa’s tweet a month later, with the added line: ‘Valentines Day can’t come soon enough. Can’t wait to read.’

Millar’s new Kick-Ass, Patience Lee, has yet to debut in comic form but Tessa and other fans will be looking forward to her debut on February 14.

Speaking about his decision to step away from the Dave Lizewski story last year, comicbookreader reports the writer as saying: ‘I wanted to shake up the setting a little and shifted the whole thing to New Mexico.

‘The lead is a woman this time, a mother in her early 30s with two young kids. She’s also a military vet who came home to find her life in a completely different setting from the way it was when she went to Afghanistan so the actual dynamic of the book is really different, but at the same time the flavor is identical.’

Kick-Ass issue one from Image Comics will be available for purchase at comic book stores on February 14.
