Black Panther’s release date is finally upon us – and with the movie’s triumphant score on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s shaping up to be one off the best films of 2018.

Impressively, the Marvel film has surpassed pre-sales from Batman v Superman to become the most-anticipated superhero film of all time.

According to reports from Fandango, it sold more advance tickets than any other superhero film ever.

The Marvel comic comes to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and chronicles the journey of T’Challa as he returns home as king of Wakanda but finds his sovereignty challenged.

Black Panther will be released in the UK on Monday 12 February, 2018.

What is the Black Panther age rating?

It’s a 12A – so no taking the little brother or sister.

Who is in the cast of Black Panther?

Chadwick Boseman is the protagonist of the film warrior king T’Challa and he is starring alongside Oscar winner, Lupita Nyong’o.

The rest of the cast is made up of an impressive list of names including Michael B. Jordan, Forrest Whitaker, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Martin Freeman, Andy Serkis and The Walking Dead star Danai Gurira.

The film is directed by Ryan Coogler who shot Creed and Fruitvale Station.

What is the film about? Marvel's official synopsis:

Marvel Studios’ Black Panther follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king.

But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk.

Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
