Cape Mentelle to host BLUE movie for Nature Conservation

Nature Conservation Margaret River will host their annual movie fundraiser at Movies at Cape Mentelle this Sunday February 11 with a screening of the documentary, BLUE.

For the fourth year running, Cape Mentelle is supporting the environmental group with live music from local favourites Doxy, local food and a raffle with great prizes for patrons prior to the movie screening.

Nature Conservation’s Tracey Muir said the film was both beautiful and an exercise in education.

“This stunning documentary will open your eyes about the current condition and threats to our beautiful oceans.

The Australian-made documentary focuses on the industrialization that has occurred in the oceans over the last century, and how it mirrors the events that triggered mass extinctions on land.

Industrial scale fishing, habitat destruction, species loss, pollution and the effect on the ocean at a time critical to the future of a number of habitats around the world ensures the stunning on-screen visuals come with a serve of startling reality.

BLUE screens Sunday February 11. Gates open at 6.00pm with the movie screening just after sunset.
