Dwayne Johnson just can’t seem to stay away from the big action movies in 2018 – starting with big building blockbuster, Skyscraper.

Dwayne Johnson plays prosthesis-wearing army veteran Will Ford, who takes over security for the world’s tallest building (no, not Burj Khalifa – this one’s taller) called The Pearl. Yet the new job doesn’t appear to be going too smoothly in a plot that is positively Die Hard-esque – Will, like John McClane, must save his wife and kids from a burning office building set alight by some very bad men.

And if that doesn’t sound action-y enough for you, the last scene of the no-trills-spared trailer shows Johnson – prosthetic leg and all – jumping of a crane into the chasm between him and the skyscraper.

Sure, Citizen Kane it is not, but what’s better than an action film jam-packed with action with the action king, Dwayne ‘Action’ Johnson?

Also starring Neve Campbell and Pablo Schreiber, the film has a US release date of 13 July – right on schedule for big blockbuster season.

It’s just one in a large number of blockbusters that the 45-year-old is taking on this year. He’s also starring in San Andreas, Black Adam, Big Trouble in Little China, Rampage, and is rumoured to have a part in the second Suicide Squad film.

And hey, if you hate the movie – which you won’t because hey, we all wanna see Die Hard featuring The Rock – then maybe think twice about posting a mean review.

Johnson proved he has no time for nastiness when he called out a reviewer for saying he’d spotted a plot hole in a less-than-savoury fashion.

The original tweet read: ‘I went to see the new Jumanji. FUCK THE NEW JUMANJI. Here’s a spoiler. There is no way a character in a video game would lose a life, then be respawned still in possession of the item required to win. That’s some bullshit. What say you @TheRock? Otherwise it was quite good.’

Actually my friend, in the JUMANJI Lore Handbook, it clearly states in article 72 of section 7, that “any character who loses a life, shall return to their original state with any item they possessed at the time of their demise”. So kindly go f*ck yourself James.

Dwayne responded: ‘Actually my friend, in the JUMANJI Lore Handbook, it clearly states in article 72 of section 7, that “any character who loses a life, shall return to their original state with any item they possessed at the time of their demise”. So kindly go f*ck yourself James.’

And with that kind of diplomatic response, we fully support the idea that he might run for President.

Skyscraper is out in the US on 13 July 2018.
