Phil Jones missed Manchester United‘s victory over Huddersfield Town on Saturday due to illness.

The England international scored an own goal in the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham on Wednesday evening and was not named in Jose Mourinho‘s matchday squad for the following game against Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon.

Mourinho decided to drop Paul Pogba for the clash with Huddersfield after the French midfielder’s poor display against Spurs.

But Jones failed to make the squad due to illness, according to his sister.

Jones could make his return in United’s trip to Newcastle United next Sunday.

Goals from Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, his first for United, secured a 2-0 victory for Mourinho’s side over Huddersfield at Old Trafford.

The win has put United 13 points behind league leaders Manchester City, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley in Saturday’s early kick-off.
