It’s been perplexing EastEnders fans to the point of frustration for a full month now – but we are finally about to discover who has the missing money from the heist. But after a few throbbing clues in tonight’s episode, many reckon that they have already figured out the answer.
Sharon Mitchell has already been cited by several people as a potential culprit – particularly as show boss John Yorke hinted that he wanted women to take control in the show as well as revealing that Sharon has a big story ahead.
But tonight, it seemed clearer than ever that Sharon knows a lot more than she is letting on. Firstly, when Linda Carter came to her in a panic, telling her that Mick had been taken by Aidan, Sharon insisted that Linda didn’t call the police – and seemed certain that Mick had nothing to worry about. So was she sure that Mick was not the guilty party?
Later, as Phil told Sharon about Aidan being on the warpath, she seemed worried at the prospect of him finding out who has the money – to which Phil replied that he hoped that he didn’t.
And let’s not forget that after the grave robbing went wrong, Ben and Jay confronted Sharon over Phil and the money and she saw Ben’s bitterness first hand. This means that she could easily have been the one to steal the money back from Ben after figuring out that he had it.
At the end of the episode, Mel Owen listened in to Phil and Sharon – and it leads her to the Mitchell house. After speaking with Louise, she has a look around – and we know that in the week that follows, Mel is reunited with her son Hunter. This implies that between Mel going to the Mitchell house and the end of the episode, the money has been found.
So has Sharon had it all this time? And if so, will she get away with it? Or is someone else entirely the thief?
We don’t have long to wait…
