Loudred and Treecko spotted on Pokemon movie set but where’s Ryan Reynolds?
The official Pokemon movie has started filming in London and we have our first look at Ryme City.
Ryan Reynolds will play Pikachu, the thunder mouse in Detective Pikachu, a spin-off from the popular Pokemon gaming franchise.
But although Ryan was missing from the London set, actors could be seen wearing blue body socks that will later be digitally altered to become Pokemon in the film; cut-outs of Loudred and Treeckho were spotted being held by crew, as well as what appeared to be a Pancham.
Motion capture will allow the film to use real actors to play the characters; Pokemon collectively refers to the 806 fictional species that have made appearances in games and trading cards over the years.
The film is based on Detective Pikachu, an adventure video game released last year in Japan, which saw a talking, intelligent Pikachu solve mysteries with a boy named Tim Goodman; the game was released on Nintendo 3DS and is yet to have a release in western territories.
Goosebumps’ Rob Letterman is directing the project and it is thought Get Down star Justice Smith will appear opposite Reynolds as Goodman.
