Coronation Street spoilers: Love Island’s Amber Davies joins the show after ‘secret talks’?
Coronation Street could be lining up a role for Love Island winner Amber Davies as she has reportedly been in secret talks with bosses. The reality TV personality, who has trained professionally in theatre, dance and singing, has made no secret of the fact that she would love to bag a role in the soap and it seems like her dream could be a step closer to coming to fruition.
Amber apparently met with a casting director from the show in a meeting that went well and filled her with confidence. So could we be seeing a new, sassy character setting foot on the cobbled streets to turn heads and cause trouble?
A source told The Sun: ‘Amber had a secret meeting with the casting director on Corrie last week and things were looking promising. Her acting agent had set up the discussion and she came away from the mini-audition full of confidence and bosses certainly liked her.
‘She’s been determined to get into acting ever since winning ‘Love Island’ so it felt like a positive move.’
21-year-old Amber previously said of her TV ambition: ‘I definitely would love to go into a soap. I’ve trained for three years in musical theatre and that is one of my biggest dreams. I would love to use my talent and passion to do what I want and to have a long, nice, future in what I love to do.
‘There’s a lot more to me than just being on Love Island and, of course, I will always be grateful because it gave me that platform and I’ve experienced some incredible things since coming out and that will never ever go but I’m trying to work as hard as I can.’
An insider close to the show told Metro.co.uk: ‘Amber was in Manchester to meet with Kym Marsh as she is singing at her ball. Her agent had asked if she could have a chat to get some advice she is keen to break into TV acting. Coronation Street’s casting team sometimes do that; Amber has trained as an actress so they were happy to chat to her.’
Recently, Amber was forced to speak out in order to deny that she had taken drugs in a hotel room following the National Television Awards. Sharing a post on Instagram accompanied by a selfie of her using the bunny filter, Amber wrote to her followers:
‘I think as much as I’m heartbroken that I’m associated with things like this in the media, I’m not going to beat myself up about it because I’ve never done drugs and I never will.’
