Mamma Mia! 2’s release date has finally been revealed – as well as a brand new trailer – and we can barely contain our excitement.

It’s been 10 years since the first film whisked us away to a magical Greek island where life was lived through Abba songs.

And now the makers behind the movie are bringing us a brand new Mamma Mia movie – aptly called Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again – which will see fans travel back and forth in time as we learn even more about our favourite characters.

When is Mamma Mia 2 released in the UK?

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is released in UK cinemas on 20 July 2018.

Okay – let’s cut to the chase: Is Meryl Streep in Mamma Mia 2?

YES!

Ignore all the worried speculation that her character Donna is dead, she’s definitely in the sequel.

Meryl barely showed up in the original trailer, which made fans panic – as well as the fact she was referred to in the past tense. As if she’d miss out on filming the best film of the summer!

What is it about?

Allow yourself to be whisked back to the beautiful Greek island of Kalokairi as X X and co return for a brand new sequel.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again will take the audience back and forth in time to show how relationships forged in the past still resonate in the present.

Where was it filmed?

Mamma Mia! – the original 2008 movie – was filmed in a number of locations. Mainly filming in Greece, the film crews also visited California, Morocco, London and Pinewood Studios.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again was largely filmed in Croatia, while some filming was also done in Pinewood studios. The decision to ditch Greece was made in a bid to save money, with filming taking place on the stunning Croatian island of Vis.
