With each new year comes new trends and one way you can easily change up your look is with your hairstyle.

Luckily for those who fear the hairdressers scissors you don't need to do anything drastic to your locks to achieve this.

Australian celebrity hairstylists Kevin Murphy and Anthony Nader have listed their top hair trends for 2018.

CURTAIN FRINGES

Those who were around in the 70s may be happy to know that one of the more popular and digestible styles is back.

'The curtain fringe is back, and back for good,' Murphy told FEMAIL.

'Whether you go for a classic heavy bang or a softer looking grown-out effect, this is by far one of the most flattering cuts you can have, and one that we will be seeing everywhere in 2018.'

To make this style absolutely effortless you need to make sure your hair is healthy and rejuvenated.

Murphy recommends a leave-in treatment to rejuvenate dry, dull hair and protect your strands. It will also help your bangs sit perfectly.

TOUSLED WAVES

Those who don't want to put too much effort into their hair will be happy to know that relaxed waves are in.

'This year, waves are taking on a new twist. Rather than the perfect mermaid waves of years past, in 2018 it is more about the relaxed, lived in wave with a slight rock'n'roll edge,' Murphy said.

The trick behind creating this look is creating texture with a light spray that holds while also adding natural shine.

Celebrity hairstylist, Anthony Nader, agreed that this year we are going to see a lot more people embracing longer lengths.

'Use a shine enhancing serum or sheen spray on damp hair so that it absorbs right in far better than on dry locks,' he said.

'When blow drying, turn the heat right down on your hair dryer, starting off with a cool temperature that won't dry your strands right out. A centre part is always a must for this look – to really keep it modern for this coming season.'

Elle Macpherson has been a fan of the hairstyle for years and it's easy to see why – it adds effortless beauty to any look.

EASY UP-STYLES

Easy up-styles are perfect for when your hair needs a wash or it's too hot to have your locks hanging around your neck and shoulders.

'Quick and easy up-styles are the key to achieving casually elegant looks with minimal effort this year,' Murphy shared.

The best way to create a look with your hair up is to set your hair before you style it which makes it easier to control. When your canvas is in perfect condition it makes it easier to achieve the looks you want.

Nicole Kidman often sports easy up-do's when she's on the red carpet, which adds instant glam to her looks.

BOBS WITH FRINGES

Another one of Murphy's trend predictions for this year are bobs with fringes, but not necessarily how we've seen them before.

'A bold look, but I'm seeing it more and more,' he said.

'I'd suggest this cut for those who want to do a shake-up in 2018,' he said.

'To make it work, opt for the low-key undone look and avoid the blunt cut block fringe at all costs.'

He said that when you soften the look it is surprisingly wearable and easy to maintain.

HEADSCARVES AND SCRUNCHIES

'I'm loving the modern use of headscarves and scrunchies in hair now,' Murphy said.

'The hair accessories are making the ultimate comeback, giving hair a effortless and chic look.

'The accessories are the hero of these looks, so keep hair understated for a simple, smooth and sleek look,' he added.

Another hair accessory that stylists are noticing celebrities use more and more are hair gems.

'Adorning your hair with micro-gems is going to take you from the office by day to cocktails at night, in one easy step,' Nader told FEMAIL.

'Simply add a slide-in clip or a brooch or pendant. The best thing about this is that you can pick one of a kind pieces up from a vintage store – these are always going to look more individual and suit your tastes more than stock standard clips.'
