EastEnders fans have highlighted a surprising new culprit in the mysterious case of the missing money as the men involved in the heist try to work out who took the cash while Phil Mitchell fears that Ben is in serious danger.

Tonight, all of the men come out of hiding and meet up to discuss the whereabouts of the money – and Mick Carter, Billy Mitchell, Aidan Maguire, Vincent Hubbard and Keanu Taylor all want answers and their rightful cut.

Mick in particular is on edge as he needs the money to buy the Queen Vic by the end of the week and he is first to chuck around allegations but of course, anyone on the Square could have the money.

Phil figures out that Ben is involved as he learns that Mel Owen was on his back from Jay but little do they know that Ben’s ownership of the cash was fleeting as it was later stolen from the Arches during a break in and replaced with a bundle of newspapers.

Viewers are hoping that none of the hapless wannabe alpha males are behind the clever swap though – and have now established Sharon as their prime suspect.

Phil gets screwed over by Sharon. Then he screws Mel. Meanwhile, Sharon breaks free from the force field that surrounds 55 Victoria Road and is back in business. Job done. #EastEnders

I thought that also, possibly working with Jay or alone. Sharon is supposed to have a big story. What if she had the money and bought the Vic for herself? #EastEnders

I’m wondering if Queen Sharon has the money, but it’s probably Max… #Eastenders

Starting to really enjoy #EastEnders again. So who has Ben’s money? @Neon_Commando is convinced that Sharon has it. Makes sense. I reckon she’ll give some to Mick & Linda.

There is plenty in EastEnders to keep this theory alive – Sharon disappeared fairly sharpish after coming face to face with Mel and she may well have picked up on Ben’s guilt when he and Jay were confronting her about Phil’s part in the robbery soon after the grave robbing incident.

Not to mention the fact that show boss John Yorke has made a point of wanting to put the strong women back at the forefront of the show, even going as far as confirming a big storyline in the pipeline for Sharon.

Hmmmm.
