If you’re still getting your mind around YSL’s rebranding under Hedi Slimane, there’s more change afoot.

Because fashion’s enfant terrible has announced that he’s leaving the brand to take over Céline.

He’ll be joining the Parisian house on 1 February but won’t present his first collection until the SS19 shows in September.

Assuming the rather bombastic title of Artistic, Creative and Image Director of the brand, Slimane is set to have full ownership over the brand’s campaigns, as well as its clothes.

And just as he did at YSL when he transformed the label into Saint Laurent, Slimane is going to be making some pretty major changes at Céline – notably, the inclusion of a menswear collection.

It’ll be a first for the brand which up until now has dealt exclusively in womenswear.

Under his directorship, it’ll also start extending into fragrance and made-to-measure couture.

Current creative director, Phoebe Philo, will present her last collection in March and despite rumours that she’s heading to take over from Christopher Bailey at Burberry, it’s been confirmed that she won’t be taking over any design houses soon.
