Who said there was no humour left in Coronation Street!? Black widow Gail Rodwell is set to get ghostly visits from her dead husbands in a fun new storyline – kind of. And serial killer Richard Hillman will have a message for her!
The iconic killer claimed several victims in Weatherfield before trying to finish off Gail and her kids by driving the car into the canal. When a psychic medium called Rosemary comes into the salon, Audrey Roberts is left convinced that she has been contacted by her late husband Alf.
Convinced by Rosemary’s gift, Audrey encourages Gail to go along and speak with Rosemary,who soon starts to get messages through from Gail’s many dead husbands such who include Brian, Richard, Joe and Michael.
Whether or not she will be the real deal remains to be seen but Metro.co.uk can confirm that Brian Capron won’t be reprising his role as Richard for the storyline. Sophie Thompson, sister to Emma and known to soap fans as unhinged Stella from EastEnders who fell to her death in a wedding dress, has been cast as Rosemary.
A Coronation Street spokesperson said: ‘Sophie is a superb actress and perfect for the role of Rosemary, we are excited she is joining the cast and working alongside Helen and Sue. Gail and Audrey are convinced she is getting messages from Alf and Gail’s husbands. It remains to be seen if she is all she claims to be.’
The storyline kicks off in March.
