Marks & Spencer in with a shot of designing Meghan Markle’s wedding dress after jumper hype
After Meghan Markle threw her support behind British brand Marks & Spencer by wearing one of the store’s jumpers, speculation they will be design her wedding dress is mounting.
Meghan made her second royal engagement with Prince Harry on Tuesday, visiting Brixton’s Reprezent Radio station to see the work they are doing with youth in the area.
But it was the labels she had chosen to, ahem, Reprezent which were the real talking point, with the royal bride-to-be decked out head-to-foot in British designers.
And while she wore £450 Burberry trousers and a £34 sold-out Jigsaw scarf, it was her affordable Marks & Spencer round-neck bell sleeve jumper that stole the show.
In fact, within hours it (naturally) went out of stock on Marks & Spencer’s website, with fans clambering to emulate Meghan.
Today, we spotted it had miraculously come back in stock, however, meaning we can all get our hands on Meghan’s jumper and pretend we’re the ones marrying Prince Harry.
And now, because of the internet sensation that is the black wool blend jumper, Marks & Spencer is being tipped to design Meghan’s anticipated wedding dress.
The high street store is the 100/1 favourite of bagging the coveted job, according to William Hill.
While M&S isn’t the bookies’ favourite to bag the gig – that title belongs to gown designer Stewart Parvin – Meghan is clearly a fan of the brand, having worn it on her second outing with Harry.
‘As Meghan is adapting to life in the UK, she has been seen donning the most British clothing item of all and while it is unlikely, it is not completely out of the question that she wears an M&S dress on the big day,’ commented William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
