Emmerdale is kicking off 2018 by ramping up the mystery of businessman Tom Waterhouse – and slapping Debbie Dingle with a devastating sense of betrayal. Meanwhile, Adam Barton’s exit draws ever closer as his fate looms.
In the New Year’s Day episode, Debbie is hired by Tom and he is evasive as she quizzes him about the new job. Meanwhile, Sam decides to take action to prevent the golf course development by making staff believe that they are building on a badger sett but when he and Lydia are caught red handed, they are arrested.
Tom has made a call but is he the one that has caused the arrest? And will this be what triggers Debbie’s suspicions to go into overdrive over who she is both sharing a relationship with and now working for?
Elsewhere, Moira Dingle continues to fear for her son Adam as his sentencing hearing approaches and Cain is determined to be there for her, afraid that she might confess to that fact that she killed Emma.
Cain’s constant presence in Moira’s life is placing a heavy strain on his failing relationship with Harriet Finch – will this be the last straw for the vicar and prompt her to finally make a clean break from him as the New Year unfolds?
Over at Home Farm, Lachlan White continues to have his sights set on getting a flat in Leeds to share with his girlfriend Belle Dingle but Chrissie is less than keen. Can Lachlan manipulate her into giving him his own way?
