A man fired as a food worker at Green Bay, Wisconsin's Lambeau Field stadium tried to assault a former co-worker with his car on Friday and crashed it into a storage room near the playing field of the National Football League's Packers, police said.

The 40-year-old man, whose name was not released, was taken into custody a few minutes after the incident began and left no tread marks on the field dubbed the 'Frozen Tundra,' for its fabled football games in wintry conditions.

The Packers said the incident would not affect its game planned for Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings.

No one was injured but several cars in the stadium's parking lot were damaged.

Dozens of police rushed to the stadium after initial reports that there was an active shooter at one of the most visited tourist sites in northeast Wisconsin.

No weapon was found and no shots were fired, police said.

Police said that last month the suspect fought with the former co-worker he tried to run down, which caused him to lose his job.

Green Bay Police Chief Andrew Smith told WBAY-TV that the suspect appeared before the police on Friday to file a complaint alleging wrongful termination.

Twenty minutes after filing the complaint, he drove to Lambeau Field.

Smith said that the suspect located the employee with whom he had the dispute.

The employee was standing in the southeast corner of Lambeau Field.

'That employee was seated in his vehicle. The suspect used his own vehicle to ram the victim's vehicle, driving that vehicle into another van that was parked in front of him,' Smith said.

The victim then got out of his car. He then fled through the parking lot as the suspect gave chase.

The victim kept running down a ramp that led to the loading dock area.

'At some point, the suspect drove his vehicle down the ramp – up a ramp that leads into Lambeau Field, not onto the playing field, but in the storage rooms nearby – and crashed his vehicle into a storage room,' Smith said.

The victim was not hurt. Police said they are interviewing him in order to understand the reasons behind the initial dispute.

Police summoned bomb squad technicians and Hazmat crews to inspect the suspect's car in case it had any dangerous materials.

A few hours after the incident, the suspect's car was removed on a flatbed truck.

The suspect is looking at charges that include assault with a deadly weapon as well as other crimes.
