The Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Plan to Buy Carolina Panthers Gets Support from Steph Curry, Colin Kaepernick

Carolina Panthers Owner Jerry Richardson announced that he would put the team up for sale on Sunday, after details of the sexual harassment charges lodged against him were made public.

A few hours later, rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs said he’d like to buy the team. Now, Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry and former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick have come out and said they want in.

Sunday evening, the rap star jumped to his Twitter account to announce his interest in becoming an NFL owner.

There are no majority African American NFL owners. Let’s make history.

Combs also noted that if he owned the team, he’d like to hire former San Francisco second-string quarterback Colin Kaepernick as his new QB. During the preseason of 2016, Kaepernick began protesting the playing of the national anthem. At the end of the season, Kaepernick walked away from his deal in San Francisco, he remains a free agent.

“I have aspirations to become — it will happen — to become the first African-American majority owner. Not having a small stake but actually owning an NFL team,” the singer told reporters. “I think it’s time for that. A majority of the players in the NFL are African-American, but there are no African-American owners. So that’s one of my dreams.”

Kaepernick himself soon jumped to Combs’ support, taking to Twitter to tell the rapper that he “wants in” on the new deal.

Kaepernick was not the only sportsman excited by Combs’ idea. Golden States Warrior Steph Curry also tweeted that he wants in on the purchase.

Combs would have a ways to go before being able to purchase the team on his own, and would definitely need a coalition to make the buy. The team is currently valued at $2.3 billion but Forbessays Combs only has a net worth of $820 million.
