Taylor Swift may be about to cap off one heck of a comeback with a first ever nomination for an Academy Award.

The singer has found herself on the long list for the Best Original Song category for her track I Don’t Wanna Live Forever, which was created especially for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack.

The song was performed by Taylor and pal Zayn Malik, but if the song were to end up on the short list only Taylor, along with co-writers Sam Dew and Jack Antonoff would be given awards, as the award is only presented to the songwriters who have composed the track, written specifically for a film.

The song was only recently nominated for a Grammy award under the Best Song Written for Visual Media category.

Elsewhere on the long list are two new songs from Disney’s Beauty And The Beast – Evermore, and How Does A Moment Last Forever – and Sufjan Stevens’ Visions Of Gideon, from the critically acclaimed Call Me By Your Name.

Hip hop group The Roots are also on the list for their powerful track It Ain’t Fair, about race relations from the film Detroit.

However it is the animated films who are most hotly favoured this year, especially Remember Me from Coco, a song written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the pair behind Let It Go, which also won Best Original Song earlier in the decade.

Mariah Carey may also get her first Oscar nomination thanks to the title track from The Star, as well as former Disney tween Nick Jonas, who composed Home for the film Ferdinand.
