George Lucas has given his verdict on Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and it seems he’s pretty happy with the results.

The Star Wars creator apparently spoke to The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson after a recent screening of the film, which has received (mostly) rave reviews across the board.

George Lucas criticised previous instalment The Force Awakens for being a ‘retro movie’, so it seems like he’s definitely happier with Rian Johnson’s direction for the franchise.

Lucas spearheaded the world of Star Wars and directed the first film, A New Hope, which launched the franchise in 1977.

He also wrote and directed the much-maligned prequel trilogy, which has slightly tainted his ‘father’ figure hold over Star Wars ever since.
