Coronation Street is poised to air the final scenes of Todd Grimshaw following Bruno Langley’s departure from the show after his admission of two sexual assaults – and the exit comes amid some of the toughest days of Billy Mayhew’s life which could see him die at the hands of a vengeful Peter Barlow.
With Peter having discovered that Billy was involved in the death of his sister Susan, he lashes out and forces the remorseful vicar to drink two bottles of vodka before bundling him into the boot of a car.
Unaware of the danger that Billy is in, Todd decides to take Summer away from it all after some prompting from Peter while the dust settles and disappears and leaves behind only a note for Billy to find.
However, Billy may never read it as Peter drives him to the edge of a cliff and prepares to let the car fall over the edge. With Billy then left in a coma, Peter hysterically reveals to the Barlows that he has killed him.
Adam then learns the truth about his mum’s death and lashes out at Billy, burning the note from Todd and then joining forces with Summer’s grandmother Geraldine to ensure that Billy never sees the daughter he wanted to adopt again.
As Billy fights for life and Todd hides with Summer, Todd’s escape from Weatherfield marks the end of Bruno’s time on the show after years in the role.
Bruno has been at the centre of some of the show’s biggest storylines, including the first on screen gay kiss with Nick Tilsley and the harrowing stillbirth of his and Sarah Platt’s child.
He pleaded guilty in court of sexually assaulting two women in a nightclub and was given a 12 month community order and instructed to sign the sex offenders register.
