More than 2 mln cubic meters of desalinated water for pilgrims

Saudi National Water Company (NWC) has announced its readiness to provide pilgrims at the holy sites with the necessary amounts of desalinated water as part of its preparations to provide relief to worshipers.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the company did visual presentation on its readiness on the seventh day of Hajj this year, reviewing its operational capacity.

It said the amount of water received from desalination plants in Mecca and holy sites was about 732 thousand cubic meters, allocated to three tanks.

The total amount of strategic and operational stocks in Mecca and the holy shrines till now was 2,020,000 cubic meters, while the total amount of water distributed during that seventh day of Hajj was 732, 000 cubic meters distributed between the holy sites and Mecca city.

Also the amount of water flowing to the city of Mecca reached about 462,000 cubic meters, while the share of the holy sites amounted to 155 thousand cubic meters.

The Saudi National Water Company pointed out that the percentage of the quantities of water pumped through tankers through filling stations reached 115, 000 cubic meters, and the company was able to keep pace with the increase in demand for water due to the increase in the number of pilgrims and the rise of temperature, stressing that the region did not see any disruption of water supplies, noting that all samples conform to the water quality of the approved standards .
