Mel C has insisted that speculation around Spice Girls reunion has turned into Chinese whispers, and hinted at their soap opera past.

She added: I perform their songs on stage during my solo gigs, but its a tricky one because if there are certain people who dont want to get on stage, I want to make sure that whatever we do as the Spice Girls is the right thing and is totally befitting.

And fitting for the fans. We just dont want to do anything that isnt good enough.

As today (31 May) marks 20 years since Geri Horner aka Ginger Spice announced that she was leaving the band, in news that shook Spice Girls fans to the core, we asked Mel if she could recollect how she felt when she first heard the news, hinting that there was some drama was involved.

It was devastating, she told metro.co.uk. We were on tour at the time, we had two shows left to do, and then we had a little break before a three-month tour of the US.

To lose a member of the band was utterly devastating. We lost a member and a friend. She had her reasons.

Describing their friendship and history as a soap opera Mel described their current state as reformed.
