Joe Tate was at his dastardly worst in Emmerdale as he plotted to bring down Robert Sugden – while simultaneously hanging Jimmy King out to dry. The scheming Home Farm owner has had a number of run ins with Robert and this came to a head when smoke from the scrapyard made an interested buyer for the golf course land walk away.
Fuming, Joe rounded on Robert, who had told the investor that Joe was behind the Dingle house being knocked down. Robert went on to condemn Joe’s late dad Chris and added that his mum Rachel was a slapper as Robert had been just a child when she had an affair with his dad Jack.
Not willing to let Robert get away with bad mouthing his family, Joe told Graham Foster that he was already making plans to bring Robert down – and Jimmy was the key to doing this. Acting as an ally to Jimmy, Joe engineered it so he got a lost haulage contract back and even offered to balance the business’ books for him.
As Joe reached out to Robert with an offer of a drink, Robert eventually relented and agreed to put their feud behind them. But little does he know that Joe is just beginning with his plot to destroy him.
He told Graham that Robert won’t know what hit him – but what is he planning to do? And could the haulage business be lost?
And once Robert discovers Joe’s plot, will he hit back twice as hard?
