Britney both surprised and delighted her loyal British fans by announcing she was bringing her now iconic Piece Of Me set to the UK this summer following her residency in Las Vegas.

But now the remaining tickets to her tour have been pushed into the hundreds, if not thousands, for fans to have a chance at seeing her live. One pair of floor tickets for the O2 date will set you back nearly £3,000.

The London and Brighton dates sold out in seconds when they went on sale on Friday, leaving many fans disappointed. However, since then Britney and her promoter Live Nation have announced an extra date at the O2 to follow on from her first night in London.

Obviously this sold out almost immediately when it was announced.

Many fans were left fuming as they failed to secure tickets when Live Nation’s website crashed during the pre-sale. At the time of writing there are still a handful of tickets left for the Scarborough, Manchester and Glasgow dates.

Of course tickets went up for resale almost immediately on the likes of Stubhub and eBay, though fans were being asked to part with upwards of double the price for one ticket at the O2. The face value of a front section ticket on the floor was listed as £141 while the same ticket on Stubhub was being sold for £1,250.

That meant buying one for you and one for your pal would set you back £2,987.50 (Picture: Metro)

That’s just the price for one ticket, so anyone wanting to take a friend or a family member would have to fork out £2,987.50.

Meanwhile, a ticket for her gig at Brighton Pride, which had a face value of £65 was going for more than five times its value listed at £365.

Needless to say those who missed out and refuse to pay the exorbitant resale values were not impressed… at all.

This is the saddest day of my life I’ve tried Britney presale three times this week and general sale today and still no tickets even with two other people trying for me ? my hearts hurting man

@CTSI_UK – trading standards should look into the practices done by @Ticketmaster and other ticketing sites – #britney tickets sell out in 2 mins and then hundreds of tickets available on official resale website at 4x official price – no way were they ever on sale! #ripoff

It comes just days after the 36-year-old pop idol announced she was packing up her show Britney: Piece Of Me, and all the costumes, props and dancers, to hit up the East Coast of America before moving on to Europe.

The show will kick off in the states in July, in Washington, and end in London on August 25.

It follows on from the end of her now-legendary four year residency in Las Vegas, where she packed in crowds night after night and effectively rejuvenated her career.
